Beginner's Guide to Minibia — From Rookgaard to Mainland
Welcome to Minibia, a browser-based recreation of Tibia 7.6. Whether you are a returning veteran or a brand-new player, this guide covers everything you need to start your adventure.
Getting Started
1. Head to minibia.com and click Play Now
2. Create an account — no email required
3. Create a character by picking a name
4. You will spawn on Rookgaard, the tutorial island
That is it. You can be playing within a minute.
Controls
Before you do anything else, get comfortable with the basics:
- Arrow keys or click to move your character
- Ctrl+click on a creature to attack it
- Right-click anything for a context menu (look, use, attack, etc.)
- F1–F12 to use spells and items from the hotbar
- Type in the chat bar to talk — nearby players will see your message
Playing on Mobile
Minibia runs fully in the browser on phones and tablets. The mobile layout gives you a D-pad for movement, a hotbar for spells and items, and tap gestures for interacting with the world — single tap to walk, double tap to use, long press to look. You can resize and reposition every UI element through Settings > Customize Layout to fit your screen. For the full breakdown of every gesture, shortcut, and tip, check the Controls page.
Rookgaard: The Tutorial Island
Every character starts on Rookgaard, a small island designed to teach you the ropes.
- Talk to NPCs — say "hi" to start a conversation, then try keywords like "job", "name", or "quest"
- Kill rats and bugs in the cave systems to gain experience
- Pick up loot from dead creatures and sell it to NPC shopkeepers
- Carry food (meat, ham) so you can regenerate health between fights
- Stay near town at first and venture deeper into caves as you level up
Your goal is to reach level 8. Once you do, head to The Oracle on the north side of the island. She will ask you to choose a vocation and then send you to the mainland.
The Oracle offers three destination cities: Thais, Venore, or Carlin. Pick whichever sounds interesting — you can travel between all cities later.
Choosing Your Vocation
This is the biggest decision you will make early on. Each vocation plays very differently.
Knight
The melee powerhouse. Knights gain +15 HP, +5 mana, and +25 capacity per level, giving them the highest health pool and carrying capacity in the game. They excel at close-range combat and can absorb enormous punishment. The tradeoff is slow mana regeneration, so you will rely on health potions more than magic.
Paladin
The ranged all-rounder. Paladins gain +10 HP, +15 mana, and +20 capacity per level, giving them a balanced stat spread. They fight at range with bows and crossbows, conjure their own ammunition, and have access to strong healing like Ultimate Healing. Paladins are self-sufficient and versatile — a great choice if you want to solo comfortably while still being useful in groups.
Sorcerer
The glass cannon. Sorcerers gain +5 HP, +30 mana, and +10 capacity per level. They have the fastest magic level growth and access to the most devastating offensive spells in the game: Sudden Death runes, Ultimate Explosion, and Energy Wave can wipe out entire groups of creatures. The downside is fragility — with the lowest HP in the game, a Sorcerer who gets surrounded is in serious trouble.
Druid
The healer and support specialist. Druids share the Sorcerer's stat gains: +5 HP, +30 mana, and +10 capacity per level. What sets them apart is their unmatched healing toolkit — Heal Friend, Mass Healing, and Ultimate Healing Runes make Druids essential for group hunts. They are not just healers, though: Poison Storm and Wild Growth give them solid offensive and tactical options. The best choice if you enjoy keeping a team alive.
A Note on Spells
In Minibia, all spells are available from character creation. You do not need to buy or learn them from NPCs — just set them on your hotbar and start casting. This lets you focus on hunting and exploring from the moment you reach the mainland.
Mainland Cities
There are seven cities to discover on the mainland, each with its own flavor:
- Thais — The largest city, located at the center of the map. Packed with shops and NPCs. A great starting point.
- Carlin — A northern city with a welcoming feel. Good hunting grounds for beginners nearby.
- Venore — The trade hub of the world. Close to swamp creatures and the Amazon camp.
- Ab'Dendriel — The elven city, surrounded by forests and elf caves.
- Kazordoon — A dwarven city carved into a mountain. Excellent for melee training.
- Edron — An eastern city with access to Cyclops, Heroes, and Dragons.
- Darashia — A desert city near some of the best Dragon spawns in the game.
Promotion
Once you reach level 20, you can get promoted for 20,000 gold. Promotion improves your HP and mana regeneration and takes effect immediately. To get promoted, talk to one of these NPCs:
- King Tibianus in Thais
- Queen Eloise in Carlin
- Emperor Kruzak in Kazordoon
- Ishebad
Start saving early — promotion is one of the best investments you can make.
Death Penalty
Death in Minibia carries real consequences, but it is not as harsh as you might fear:
- You lose 5% of your experience and skills on death
- Blessings reduce the penalty — there are 5 available, each cutting the loss by 20%. With all five blessings, you lose nothing.
- Items are not dropped on death under normal circumstances. The exception is players with a red or black skull, who drop all backpack contents.
Always keep your blessings active if you can afford them.
The Skull System
Minibia has open PvP. The skull system keeps it in check:
- White skull — Appears for 15 minutes when you attack an innocent player. You are PZ-locked and others can kill you without penalty.
- Red skull — Earned by committing 3 or more unjustified kills per day (or 5 per week, or 10 per month). Lasts 30 days. You drop all items on death.
- Black skull — Earned by committing 6 or more unjustified kills per day (or 10 per week, or 20 per month). Lasts 30 days. You cannot attack unmarked players and drop everything on death.
As a new player, avoid PvP until you understand these rules. A red skull is devastating.
Daily Tasks
Minibia features a daily task system that rewards consistent play. Talk to task NPCs around the mainland:
- Hector, Greta, and Marcus offer hunting tasks
- Spell teachers offer magic practice tasks
- Postmen offer delivery tasks
Completing tasks on consecutive days builds a streak bonus for extra rewards. Check our Daily Tasks Guide for the full breakdown.
Banking
Banker NPCs let you deposit, withdraw, and transfer gold safely. You will find one in every major city (for example, Suzy in Thais). Transfers work even when the recipient is offline, so you can send gold to friends or alts any time.
Tips for New Players
- Do not carry more gold than you need — deposit it at the bank
- Buy a rope and shovel early — you need them to explore caves and dungeons
- Use the hotbar — bind your healing spell to F1 so you can react instantly
- Heal early, not late — waiting until low health is how characters die
- Sell everything — most loot has value at NPC shops. Gold adds up fast.
Next Steps
Once you are settled on the mainland, consider these goals:
- Explore the quest system — dungeons hide valuable rewards
- Work toward your promotion at level 20
- Join a guild for group hunts and community
- Browse the Library for detailed info on monsters, items, and spells
- Join the Discord to connect with other players
