Beginner's Guide to Minibia — Your First Steps in Tibia 7.6
Beginner's Guide to Minibia
Welcome to Minibia — a browser-based recreation of Tibia 7.6, one of the oldest and most influential MMORPGs ever made. Whether you're a returning veteran or completely new to the game, this guide will get you started.
Creating Your Account and Character
1. Go to minibia.com and click Play Now
2. Click Create Account — you'll need an account number and password
3. Create a character by choosing a name
4. You'll start on Rookgaard, the tutorial island
That's all there is to it. No email required, no lengthy verification — you're in the game within a minute.
Rookgaard: The Tutorial Island
Every character starts on Rookgaard, a small island designed to teach you the basics. Here's what you need to know:
Basic Controls
- Arrow keys or click to move
- Left-click a creature to look at it
- Right-click anything for a context menu (attack, use, look, etc.)
- Ctrl+click on a creature to attack it
- Type in the chat to talk — other players nearby will see your message
Your First Steps
1. Talk to NPCs — say "hi" to start a conversation, then try keywords like "job", "name", or "quest"
2. Kill rats and bugs in the cave systems to gain experience
3. Collect loot — pick up items from dead creatures and sell them to NPCs
4. Level up to 8 — this is the requirement to leave Rookgaard
Surviving Rookgaard
- Stay near the town at first — venture into caves gradually
- Always carry some food (meat, ham) to regenerate health
- If you die, you'll respawn in the temple — you lose some experience but keep your equipment on Rookgaard
- The cave system gets progressively harder the deeper you go
Leaving Rookgaard
Once you reach level 8, talk to The Oracle on the north side of the island. She'll ask you to choose your vocation — this is one of the most important decisions in the game.
Choosing Your Vocation
At level 8, you pick one of four vocations. Each plays very differently:
Knight
- Role: Melee tank and frontline fighter
- Strengths: Highest health, best armor, strong close-range damage
- Weakness: Limited magic ability, relies on health potions
- Playstyle: Get in the face of monsters and trade blows. Best with a shield and one-handed weapon.
- Best for: Players who like being in the thick of combat
Paladin
- Role: Ranged fighter with support magic
- Strengths: Good health and mana balance, ranged attacks, self-healing
- Weakness: Weaker in close combat than Knights, less magic than mages
- Playstyle: Keep your distance, use bows or crossbows, and heal yourself between fights
- Best for: Players who like versatility and self-sufficiency
Sorcerer
- Role: Offensive magic specialist
- Strengths: Most powerful damage spells in the game, area attacks
- Weakness: Low health, expensive spells, fragile
- Playstyle: Blast creatures from a distance with energy, fire, and death magic
- Best for: Players who want maximum damage output
Druid
- Role: Healer and support caster
- Strengths: Best healing spells, can heal other players, ice and earth magic
- Weakness: Lower damage than Sorcerers, most valuable in a team
- Playstyle: Keep your party alive with Heal Friend, deal damage with ice and earth spells
- Best for: Players who enjoy supporting a team
Mainland: Your Adventure Begins
After choosing your vocation, you'll arrive in one of the mainland cities. Here's what to do first:
Immediate Priorities
1. Buy equipment — visit the weapon and armor shops in your city
2. Learn spells — find the magic shop NPC and ask about "spells"
3. Get a backpack — you'll need inventory space for loot
4. Buy rope and shovel — essential for exploring caves and dungeons
5. Buy health potions (or mana potions for mages)
Making Money
Gold is essential for potions, equipment, and spells. Early ways to earn:
- Hunt and sell loot — most creature drops can be sold to NPCs
- Sell food — meat and ham sell for gold at NPC shops
- Make runes (Sorcerers and Druids) — blank runes are cheap, enchanted runes sell well
- Trade with players — use the Trade channel or safe trade system
Cities to Know
- Thais — the largest city, center of the map. Good early hunting nearby
- Carlin — northern city, popular with Paladins and Druids
- Venore — trade hub, near swamp creatures and Amazon camp
- Ab'Dendriel — elven city, surrounded by forests and elf caves
- Kazordoon — dwarven city inside a mountain, great for Knight training
- Edron — eastern city with access to Cyclops, Heroes, and Dragons
- Darashia — desert city near the best Dragon spawns
Combat Tips
- Never fight more monsters than you can handle — death has real consequences
- Bring enough supplies — running out of potions mid-hunt can be fatal
- Learn to kite — mages should move between spell casts to avoid taking hits
- Use the hotbar — bind healing spells to F1 so you can heal instantly
- Watch your health bar — don't get greedy. Heal early, not late.
Death and Consequences
When you die in Minibia:
- You lose experience (and possibly a level)
- You drop items from your inventory and potentially equipped items
- You respawn at the nearest temple
- Your backpack contents can be looted by other players
This is what makes Tibia special — death matters. Always be prepared, and don't carry more than you can afford to lose.
The Skull System (PvP)
Minibia has open PvP, meaning players can attack each other. The skull system regulates this:
- No skull — you're a peaceful player. Anyone who attacks you gets a skull.
- White skull — you attacked an innocent player. Other players can kill you without penalty.
- Red skull — you've committed multiple unjustified kills. You drop all items on death.
- Yellow skull — visible only to you, shows who recently attacked you.
As a new player, avoid attacking other players until you understand the system. Getting a red skull has severe consequences.
Useful Commands
- /controls — view the full controls reference
- Ctrl+I — open/close inventory
